THANK YOU PARENTS!

School Council had an outstanding turn out on Thursday evening. Thank you to all of the families who attended! It was great to see you on the screen and to meet you. We were happy to hear how willing you were to assist the school to continue being great!  I sense this will be an amazing year as so many were willing to help.  If you missed attending, not to worry, we will have a meeting in October where all families are welcome.  Thank you to the families who offered to assist with Fun Lunch and Fundraising. This is important work for our school! We are always hopeful when families attend and offer to help with tasks for students.

A note from the office

Demographic Verification  - Review required every school year!

All families must log in to their myCBE accout and complete your verification. It is a requirement of all CBE families. This is required by the government of Alberta. Kindly log in and confirm all of your information. At this time, you will also need to double check all of your contact information is accurate so we can reach you in an emergency.  Every week we call families from CAS and none of their contact information works. When your child is ill or injured you want us to reach you and your child wants us to connect with you. Please take the time to update your information through demographic verification.

We are hopeful all families will fill in a police clearance so you can volunteer with our students.

Family Homework

All Families – part of student safety is for our students to be able to answer simple questions about themselves. I have been surprised when students come to the office to call home and they don’t know their family name and they don’t know phone numbers to contact their parent.  In the coming weeks, all students K-Grade 5 should know the answers to the following questions:

What is your first name?

What is your last name?

What is your mom’s name?

What is your dad’s name?

What is your mom’s phone number?

What is your dad’s phone number?

All children should know this information without hesitation. This is all part of student safety.

Similarly, all parents should know the name of their child’s teacher and their grade.

I think everyone has some homework to work on!

Seasonal and Weather Related Family Homework

The cold weather is coming. It always snows in October at least once. At school, students will go outside every day for recess. Students will remain outside in the morning until the entry bell rings. We only remain inside if it is colder than –20C. All students need to be dressed for the weather. This includes warm boots (not rubber boots), snow pants, a winter coat, and tuque. Please do not use dollar store mitts as these rarely keep tiny hands warm for long. Please ensure you label everything.

Kindergarten and Grade One families – now is the time to practice putting on winter coats, mitts, and boots. Can your child zip their winter coat? Can they put their mitts on? These things take plenty of practice. Now is the time to start practicing so they are independent and able to do this.  These are tasks families need to prepare their children for. It is difficult in a classroom of 25 students for a teacher to help every child get into their winter clothing. Thank you for working on this important task with your children.

For those who had photos taken - school pictures are ready!

To order, log in to your account on mylifetouch.ca or create an account using your student's student ID number on the envelop.

All families can also log on and order a FREE digital Pictures2Protect Card.

Ever Active Schools Residency

Walking to school is a fantastic way to kick off the day! It not only allows students to enjoy fresh air and physical activity but also helps build a sense of community. Plus, walking reduces traffic congestion and enhances safety on our roads for everyone.

Mark your calendars on October 9, 2024 for International Walk to School Day! We encourage you to participate and celebrate this special occasion.  If you live too far away to walk to school, and you ride a bus, try walking in the community with your family and friends during the evening and weekend hours. See much healthier you feel, adding some extra activity to your day.

Extended Absences

If your family needs to plan an extended absence for more than one week, please book an appointment at the office. Please call them for an appointment with Ms. Bauman to have you sign extended absence forms on your child’s behalf.  Ms. Bauman is available from 8 – 9 am and 2 – 2:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to meet with families.
