Attendance

It is important that you call the school if your child is going to be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-8120 ext. 1. See more on our Attendance page.

Calling the School

Our School has a very busy office and we take care of over 600 students, their teachers, and families as well as the business of running a school office to the very best of our ability, However we do need your help and continued support to succeed. You can contact us via email anytime at chrisakkerman@cbe.ab.ca and this is the best way to enquire about many things, as well as book times to come into the school for volunteer clearance, book an extended absence appointment, even let us and your child’s teacher know when your child will be away for more than a few days, or any general concern or questions. We check this inbox daily and forward to the correct persons.

We only have three phone lines and they need to be kept free so we don’t miss important calls from classrooms, or parents who need urgent attention. When calling the school please carefully listen to the options, dialing 0 Zero is only for emergencies, or school business.

  • Extension 1 – Attendance, please speak slowly and clearly. Leave your child’s first and last name (spelling their last name), teacher, grade, date and reason for absence. We do not take absence calls in the office.
  • Extension 2 – Bus and Transportation if you are picking up your child you must leave a message before 1:00 p.m. Please leave your child’s first and last name, teacher and bus letter.
  • Extension 3 – Lottery and Registration information only no messages

Questions & Concerns

We know that the success of your child depends on a strong partnership between your family and the CBE. If you have a question or concern, you can:

  1. First, speak to your child's teacher. In most cases, a solution can be found at the classroom level.
  2. If the issue remains unresolved after speaking with the teacher, schedule a meeting with the school principal.

If you complete steps 1 and 2 and the issue remains unresolved, click the button below to explore further options.

Attendance Area & Walk Zones

In Calgary, every home address is connected to a designated attendance area, which then determines your assigned school based on its location for each grade and program. Additionally, the existence of a walk zone around each school sets the criteria for transportation eligibility, in accordance with provincial guidelines, to determine which students assigned to that school may qualify.
