School Photo Day Reminder

A reminder that all students must be dressed in their complete formal uniform for both their individual and class photographs. This expectation applies to all students, and all uniform items, including head coverings, scarves, bows, and accessories, must be in approved uniform colours.

As a uniform school, our expectations are well established and familiar to families. If a student arrives without the required formal uniform, parents/guardians will be contacted and asked to bring the missing uniform items to the school.

Please note that students who are not wearing their complete formal uniform will be photographed individually only once their uniform requirements are met and may not be included in their class photo.

Thank you for your support in ensuring your child arrives at school on Monday in full formal uniform. Your cooperation helps us maintain a consistent and professional appearance for this special school keepsake 

Demographic Forms:

This is a friendly reminder to complete your Demographic Verification Form and Annual Authorization Form. If you wish to volunteer during the school year, please also submit an Annual Volunteer Form. We appreciate your prompt attention to these important forms. 

School Fees Reminder

School fees for the current school year will be added to student accounts in mid-October.

If you have any outstanding fees from previous years, we kindly ask that you arrange payment as soon as possible. Unpaid accounts may be subject to the Calgary Board of Education's collection procedures, and we would like to help families avoid that situation whenever possible.

Thank you for your prompt attention to any outstanding balances and for your continued support of our school community.

Extended Absence:

If you are planning an extended absence for your child during the school year, please contact the school office to schedule a meeting with Mr. Murray prior to your departure.

To support attendance planning and confirm your child's anticipated return date, families will be asked to provide a copy of their flight itinerary. This information assists the school in maintaining accurate attendance records and planning for your child's continued learning and successful return to school.

School Council Update

On Thursday evening, School Council met for its first meeting of the school year. I believe this was the strongest turnout I have experienced since arriving at Chris Akkerman School, and it was wonderful to see so many families engaged in supporting our school community.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to our new School Council Chair. He facilitated an organized, productive, and welcoming meeting that set a positive tone for the year ahead.

I hope that families who attended found both the School Council and School Council Fundraising Society meetings informative and worthwhile. In the coming weeks, families will have an opportunity to participate in a survey regarding school residency matters, and we encourage everyone to share their feedback.

A reminder that all parents and guardians are welcome to attend School Council meetings. Every parent and guardian is automatically a member of School Council, and your voice and participation are valued. We also have an upcoming Fun Lunch event, and parent volunteers are always appreciated.

Finally, if you would like to join the Chris Akkerman School Council WhatsApp group for this school year, please attend a School Council meeting so that you can be added to the chat and stay informed about upcoming events and initiatives.
