Student Health Forms

If your child has any medical conditions from allergies to Epi Pens to Diabetes and everything in between - please ensure you fill in the forms below. If you are filling in the forms, every section must be filled in, in detail. This is your childs health and safety. We need to know exactly what your expectations are and those of your family physician.  If you have medication that must be kept or provided at school, this needs to come in the original  packaging with the prescription affixed to the package. Parents are expected to fill out all of the paperwork that goes with the medication you are providing. 

Classroom Placements and a Positive Start to the School Year

As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, we have received a number of requests from families regarding classroom placements. We understand these requests come from a place of care. Families know their children well and want them to feel comfortable, supported, and successful at school.

The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time, but it can also bring uncertainty. It is common for students to feel disappointed when they are not placed with close friends or familiar classmates. These feelings are understandable and are a normal part of adjusting to a new classroom, teacher, and peer group.

A great deal of thought, care, and professional judgment goes into the class placement process. Staff consider many factors, including academic and learning needs, social and emotional considerations, individual supports, class size and composition, positive peer dynamics, and the overall balance of every classroom. Our goal is to create learning environments where all students have the opportunity to grow, learn, and be successful.

As an over-capacity school, our classes are currently full and carefully balanced. For this reason, and because changes to one classroom can impact many others, we will not be making classroom placement changes once the school year has begun.

We ask families to partner with us in encouraging students to give their assigned classroom time and to approach new relationships with an open mind. Learning to adapt to change, manage disappointment, and build new friendships are important life skills. School provides a safe and supportive environment for students to develop these skills with the guidance of caring adults.

There are many wonderful children throughout our school who are also looking for new friends and new connections. One of the special opportunities that comes with a new school year is meeting different classmates, building confidence, and discovering friendships that may not have been possible otherwise.

Requests based primarily on friendships, teacher preference, or initial discomfort will not be accommodated, as these feelings are often a natural and temporary part of the transition into a new classroom. Our experience has shown that students who are given time, encouragement, and support often settle quickly and thrive in their new learning environment.

Thank you for trusting the care, experience, and considerable work that staff have invested in creating balanced classes. We appreciate your partnership and support as we work together to help all students feel connected, confident, and successful this school year. 

Meet the Teacher & Family Picnic

We are excited to welcome our families to our Meet the Teacher and Family Picnic on Thursday, September 10! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher, learn about the school year ahead, and spend time connecting with our school community.

Meet the Teacher Times

Kindergarten: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Grades 1-5: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Please remember to sign up for a time to meet your teacher. Meeting times begin at the top of the hour and the half hour, and all class meetings will begin promptly at their scheduled start time.

Registration through your Power School Account for a meeting spot will begin on Sunday at 8AM.  Thank you for registering for a time slot.

Class presentations will last approximately 20-25 minutes. We kindly ask families to arrive on time so that everyone can receive the full benefit of the presentation.

To support our teachers and all families attending, please help us by:

  • Keeping conversations to a minimum during presentations.
  • Listening carefully to the information being shared.
  • Listening to the questions and answers during the session, as other families may ask questions that are helpful to you as well.

Music and French Information Sessions

Our Music and French teachers, Ms. Kortmann and Ms. Costinak, will be available in the gym on Thursday. Information sessions will be offered every 15 minutes throughout the evening.

Please enter and exit through the designated gym doors. While in the gym, we kindly ask that children remain with their families and that voices be kept low so everyone can hear comfortably without teachers needing to strain their voices.

One of the most common questions we receive is whether a child needs previous experience in French or Music to be successful in these classes.

The answer is no. Ms. Kortmann and Ms. Costinak want to reassure families that children do not need prior experience in either French or Music to thrive. Students who participate, show respect for others, and come to class ready to learn will do very well and experience success in both programs.

Family Picnic

Our family picnic is a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy time together as a school community.

Food trucks will begin arriving at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday and may need a little time to finish setting up. Several food trucks will be located in the bus parking spaces along the front road.

Families are also welcome to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a homemade dinner together on our school grounds. We encourage you to join us outside and make the evening your own.

You may even spot some of our staff members outside as early as 4:00 p.m., enjoying dinner and visiting with families.

We are truly looking forward to sharing this special evening with you and your children. Thank you for being part of our school community. We can't wait to see everyone on September 10! 

Grade 5 Student Leadership Opportunities

We are excited to begin our Grade 5 Student Leadership Program for the 2026-2027 school year!

This coming week, Grade 5 students will meet during lunch to learn about the many leadership opportunities available to them. Our goal is to provide meaningful ways for students to contribute to our school community while developing responsibility, confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.

This year, leadership opportunities may include:

  • Set-Up Crew
  • Office Assistants
  • Equipment Managers
  • Special Events
  • Kindergarten Helpers
  • Grade 1 Helpers
  • Outdoor Leadership

We are hopeful that every Grade 5 student who wishes to participate will have the opportunity to serve in two different leadership roles throughout the school year. The first leadership term will run until January, at which time we will meet again and redistribute students into new roles, allowing them to experience different ways of contributing to our school community.

Grade 5 families can expect a permission form to come home in the coming days. As part of the application process, students will also be asked to complete a short leadership task with support from home. This activity is designed to encourage students to reflect on leadership and the positive contributions they can make to our school.

We look forward to working with our Grade 5 leaders and seeing the positive impact they will have throughout the year. Their enthusiasm, responsibility, and commitment help make our school a welcoming and supportive place for everyone. 

A Message About Bathrooms (Yes, Already!)

We are only five days into the school year and we need your support with a topic that is near and dear to every elementary school: bathrooms!

First and foremost, successful bathroom habits are 100% a parenting task. We value our partnership with families and take our responsibility for teaching the Alberta curriculum very seriously. In return, we ask parents to take the lead on bathroom expectations at home. Together, we make a great team!

The good news is that we remain very hopeful. Our students are wonderful, and a few reminders from home can go a long way.

All classes have been assigned specific bathrooms, and students are expected to use the bathroom designated for their class, along with their buddy when required. A quick review at home would be very helpful.

A few bathroom fundamentals worth revisiting:

  • How to wash hands properly.
  • How much soap is actually needed. (Hint: more is not always better!)
  • How long to rinse hands for.
  • How to dry hands.
  • What to do with the paper towel after drying hands.
  • How to recognize the difference between soap and "my hands are now wrinkly because I've been running water over them for three minutes."

We would also appreciate reminders about a few important social expectations:

  • One person per bathroom stall.
  • Indoor voices at all times.
  • Respect the privacy of others who are taking care of their business.
  • Bathrooms are not a playground, gathering place, meeting room, or social club.

There are plenty of opportunities to chat, laugh, run, and play outside on the playground and compound. The bathroom's primary purpose remains unchanged after all these years!

Parents, please continue reviewing bathroom expectations with your children. We'd really prefer not to start logging bathroom behaviour concerns this early in the school year. We know that with a few conversations at home, our students will rise to the occasion.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep our bathrooms clean, calm, and focused on their intended purpose. Together, we can make our bathrooms a place where everyone can successfully do what they came there to do and then return to learning!
